Motive

My inner editor is a tyrannical ass-clown. I've spent years kowtowing to his brutal criticism and chasing perfection — grinding my novel projects to a fine powder and puzzling them back together again and again. Whether rooted in my ADHD wiring or my garden-variety fear of failure, the why no longer matters to me. I'm not going to devote any more time to understanding my writerly defects. As a chronic over-thinker, I've done enough navel-gazing. It's time for action. It's time to put him down. It's time to establish a rhythm of finishing. Bye, Felicia.

Opportunity

Are you a writer who struggles with perfectionism? Join the Perfection Murder Club and smite your inner editor by publishing consistently. Let your imagination loose on the world every week. No excuses. Write. Finish. Share. Repeat.

Membership is free and there is only one bylaw: publish one piece of fiction every week, no matter what:

  • Length: 50 - 1500 words
  • Deadline: Friday, 11:59:59 p.m. local time

It doesn't matter whether you publish a complete story, chapter, scene, or snippet. What matters is that you release your work for other humans to read. Perfection be damned.
